After a few days of testing, YouTube is now making the new Material You interface available to all users. This new interface has some interesting visual improvements for users of the platform – and will be available as well as users in smartphone apps.
Retaining the materials it designs, the company decided to adopt a “circular” shape throughout the facade. Buttons, video images and various other interface content are now slightly rounded corners, in keeping with what is in the design of recent versions of Android – thus, you are the material.
Another novelty concerns the new “Ambient Mode”, which, according to Google, adds a subtle color effect to videos when dark mode is activated. This feature is meant to remind a bit of the characteristics of some TVs, which in dark environments project lights to the back of them depending on what’s being turned on.
The idea is the same, with a faded color next to the reader, depending on what is being reproduced.
The buttons next to videos have also been reworked, now they have the new integrated design and have slight changes to the format in which they are presented, along with video details.
This new interface is now available to all users, but it may take a few days for all accounts to be accessible.
