WhatsApp, the most popular instant messaging app used by Brazilians, as well as millions around the world, is facing challenges related to unauthorized versions of its own software. With its increasing popularity, it inevitably attracts a host of issues that require the attention of developers and users alike.
The issue in focus is the unofficial versions of WhatsApp, which are designed by third parties, without the permission of Meta, the parent company behind the app. This situation has led Meta to announce crackdowns against these unofficial apps, which therefore warn users against using alternatives like WhatsApp Plus and GB WhatsApp.
Users who opt for such unauthorized versions may be subject to penalties, such as temporary suspension or even permanent deletion of their accounts.
Meta revealed that the suspension will initially last for 24 hours. However, if users continue to use unauthorized versions after this temporary period, the ban can become permanent.
How do you switch back to the original version?
Unauthorized versions like WhatsApp Plus and GB WhatsApp have different processes to migrate to the official version.
On GB WhatsApp users, for example, you must first backup your chat history. After that, they must locate the corresponding folder in the device storage and rename it to “WhatsApp”. Finally, you need to download the official version of the app from the App Store and then restore the backup.
In the case of WhatsApp Plus fans, the transition is simpler: just check if the chat history is stored, and when the official version is downloaded and opened, the history will be transferred automatically.
It is worth noting that due to the lack of security in unauthorized versions, there is a risk of data loss.
