Thanks to a new server-side change, which is still being implemented, you can now directly upgrade to Windows 11 23H2 from within Windows 10. Previously, Windows 11 22H2 was presented to some users when checking for updates in Windows 10 and as a result, these users were forced to Download Windows 11 22H2 and then reboot the system to install version 23H2. Now everything is more direct.
You can now upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 23H2!
It was not known why Microsoft was calling for the installation of Windows 11 22H2 instead of Windows 11 23H2 on some computers, however, the new server-side update eventually leaves aside the 22H2 version for downloading and installing 23H2 directly.
Devices eligible for this live upgrade are running Windows 10 22H2 with the latest cumulative updates and driver updates installed. I remember that version 23H2 makes more sense because it is an update to version 22H2 and is as stable as the previous version. In fact, the 23H2 comes with Windows 11 Moment 4 features already activated, making it much better than the 22H2.
This upgrade is undoubtedly a good idea because support for Windows 11 22H2 will end on October 8, 2024. This means that after that date, Microsoft will no longer provide updates. Windows 11 23H2, on the other hand, runs for another year, which might explain why the company made this change.
As mentioned above, Windows 11 23H2 comes with all the new features of the Moment 4 update, including support for taskbar ungrouping, a new volume mixer and native 7Zip integration, allowing you to open more compressed files.
As for Windows 10, support will end in less than two years and Microsoft will start pushing people to install the new operating system soon.
If you don’t have a supported device, you’ll need to upgrade your hardware, buy a new PC, or pay Microsoft for extended security updates.
