Xiaomi has just approved a patent for a new device that could revolutionize the foldable smartphone sector.
According to the documents, the Chinese brand now has a unique and innovative design of a flexible screen that can be detached from the smartphone body.
Is Xiaomi working on a foldable smartphone with a detachable screen?
Xiaomi is known for applying for several patents and now I just saw another one that was approved pointing to a potential innovative path for the brand’s foldable smartphones. According to the documents, Xiaomi can from now on use a unique design of a flexible screen that can be removed from the smartphone body.
According to the same documents, the body and screen of the smartphone can be separated from each other, and the flexible screen wraps around the body of the smartphone when both elements are connected.
This means that the screen can be fully opened when it is separated from the rest of the smartphone body. The patent also states that, having been removed from the terminal body, the screen works at full capacity, since there is wireless data transmission between the two elements.
In order for the display to function outside of the terminal body, it must have a battery separate from the main battery, in addition to needing the primary computing.
Other than that, no more details are known, such as the screen size and the type of wireless standard you will use to communicate with the smartphone body.
It has also not been confirmed that Xiaomi is actually working on equipment with these characteristics, but usually the Chinese brand’s patents show what the future of its mobile terminals will be.
Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G may arrive with a 108MP sensor
However, other Xiaomi-related rumors are aware that the Chinese brand may soon launch the 12 Lite 5G model. Among the specifications indicated for the new terminal is the presence of a 108-megapixel sensor in the configuration of the triple rear camera. The remaining sensors will be an eight-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a five-megapixel depth sensor.
It is also indicated that it will arrive with a 4500 mAh battery with 67W fast charging support and a 6.55-inch OLED screen with Full HD + resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
On orders of the device, there will be a Snapdragon 778G processor with support for 5G connections and paired with 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal storage.
