Microsoft has launched some new features for Windows 11 Widgets, and the latest should be arriving now about the weather widget – which is definitely one of the most used features on the system.
according to Jane Gentlemanfrom the Windows development team, are making improvements to the way the weather widget can locate a user, and present results more consistently.
As of now, there are still some bugs that could cause the widget to display a weather condition that is significantly different from what was displayed in the Weather app in Windows 11. This discrepancy was derived from the way the widget collected users’ location.
Now, Microsoft believes that it has fixed this problem, as the gadget will update more consistently, showing the current weather as realistically as possible. However, users can find that system location usage will be much higher – the tool will often collect the exact location of where they are.
Users who do not want the gadget to constantly send their location to Microsoft can instead specify a fixed location above the widget, instead of using the Automatically collect location option.
This improvement is part of Microsoft’s ongoing updates to the taskbar and new widget features. It is expected to appear in future versions of the system, tentatively for the Insider Program.
