Microsoft is adjusting the requirements for future versions of Windows 11, namely 24H2, which is expected to be available in October 2024. This new update will focus heavily on artificial intelligence, and it is possible that Microsoft will begin alerting users on systems that cannot Take full advantage of technology.
Among the requirements There are some features of the processor, which are support for PopCnt and SSE4.2. These two technologies may be necessary for users to run with Windows 11 24H2, and given that they apply directly to the system, there is no way around them for systems with older processors.
In other words, Windows 11 24H2 may be more limited in terms of the processors it supports, leaving older processors aside without support for both technologies, and without the ability to directly bypass this limitation.
Microsoft may be preparing these requirements taking into account some of the artificial intelligence features that will appear in this version of the system. One of them would be Smart File Explorer, which was recently discovered in the Windows source code.
It's still unknown how this will work, but it essentially appears to be a variation of the system's traditional file explorer, incorporating artificial intelligence to help users navigate through it.
For now, the code indicates that the function is only available for ARM64 systems, which may indicate that it is a Microsoft exclusive for Surface devices, but it may also eventually reach other users. At the same time, to use the function, in addition to the processor, the system also requires at least 16 GB of available RAM.
