An improved camera system was recently confirmed to be debuting, with the Vivo X100 Ultra, alongside the Vivo X100s, spotted in a possible official poster found on Chinese Weibo. The image shows the main aspects of the two devices, highlighting the updated color options with a more realistic finish, as well as the larger camera modules with the new lens mode.
Without a specific source, due to widespread sharing across different Weibo accounts, the poster highlights what could be the Vivo X100 Ultra, seen on the left. The model inherits the visual language of other devices in the Vivo X100 family, and opts for a few tweaks to set it apart from others.
The most noticeable change is the position of the cameras, which no longer form a kind of “cross” but have been repositioned in a square shape. It is possible to notice the inscriptions of Zeiss, the famous camera manufacturer and long-time partner of Vivo Mobile, and the T* anti-reflective lenses, as well as the name “Ultra” in one of the circles.
The yellowish silver design also draws attention, sparking speculation about the possible use of titanium on the sides – competitors like the Galaxy S24 Ultra, iPhone 15 Pro Max and Xiaomi 14 Ultra already use or have versions with titanium metal. Greater resistance, so it's plausible that Vivo followed a similar path with its Ultra cell phone.
Another interesting point to note is the presence of indicators of lens characteristics, which reinforce the high image quality that the device has to offer. Apertures are listed from f/1.75 to f/2.67, and focal lengths range from 14mm (ultra-wide) to 85mm (telephoto). Using this data, it is possible to prove that the optical zoom range should reach something close to 3.4x, considering that 25mm is the average focal length of the main cameras of smartphones.
Still on the poster, in a shade of green/cyan and with a marble finish reminiscent of the OnePlus 12, there will be the Vivo X100s, which is a refurbished version of the original Vivo X100 that was launched in November last year. There's little information about the variant, but it's believed the biggest news will be the use of a MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Plus processor, a yet-to-be-announced version of the Dimensity 9300 with higher operating frequencies.
Codenamed 'Thanos', the brand has already called the Vivo X100 Ultra the 'camera that makes calls', such is the company's confidence in the photography capabilities of the device. In addition to the expanded partnership with Zeiss and the “BlueImage” image processing system, the top of the line will feature the first periscope lens with Samsung’s unprecedented 200-megapixel sensor, a world first.
Along with the Vivo X100s phone, it is scheduled to be launched next May, after development obstacles delayed Vivo's work. Pricing and availability are still unknown, but prices are expected to be higher, given the premium positioning of the new products.
