video. The shelter dog is elated after being surprised by 200 tennis balls
Ribeye has lived in the Society for about a year and is obsessed with balls. Throughout his years, hundreds of them have been presented.
It doesn’t take much to entertain a dog. But let’s face it, once in a while, big cats deserve some extra pampering. On June 14, Rebay turned two and received further attention from volunteers at the Spartanburg Humane Society, a North American shelter where she lived for a year. But what I didn’t expect was that the party would continue until the end of the month.
This past weekend, Al-Jahiz received a special request from Rubber Rescue, a local rescue group. After the association saw a video of Ribeye playing with a giant tennis ball—his favorite game—they decided to send several boxes with about 200 of them in the dog’s name.
On Sunday, June 24, volunteers escorted the Rib-Eye to the park and began opening the boxes. With his tail wagging non-stop, the four-legged birthday boy couldn’t hide his surprise and felt exhausted. However, he ran to one of the chests that wasn’t open, and insisted that more games be released.
The Ribeye is described as a “fun and sweet” dog and according to Sammy Becks, one of the volunteers responsible for his care, he loves having a house to call home and a crate full of multiple toys.
“Sometimes shelters can be stressful places with all the noises and smells and other animals,” he explained. Although he loves to play with the staff of the Spartanburg Humane Society, there are times when the gentle giant likes to be alone with his toys. Now, with 200 of them, Ribeye has a lot to do, but he hopes to soon conquer the coercion of the sweetener in the future.
