The meeting between Atlético Huila and La Equidad, of the Colombian Clausura Championship, last night was marked by many extraordinary moments.
The duel between the two teams struggling to escape relegation was stopped in the first half due to problems with the stadium lights. During the break, the stadium turned off the lights, and the second half also started late.
Later, Huila’s team, which was winning 1-0, was left with one man less due to the sending off of Carlos Lucumi, and in the last half, they conceded the equaliser. The home team could have conceded a return goal in stoppage time… but the ball catcher prevented it.
Goalkeeper Luis Herne Vazquez took the goal kick, but the pass was short and the ball was intercepted and ended up at the feet of Kevin Salazar. The striker entered the area, where he had four teammates facing off against three opposing defenders, but at the moment of the pass, another ball was sent from the baseline and play stopped.
The referee recognized the football player and removed him from the field. However, the youngster’s position will have no impact, as Kevin Salazar was in an offside position and the VAR would have to call off the move if a goal was scored.
The match resumed with a drop ball, and after a few moments, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
