YuAn Indian woman is desperate over a lack of information and access to medical treatments after she developed horn-like features on her head leaving her in “unbearable pain”.
Memia Bai Curie, 60, suffers from a rare condition in which she develops a painful bump on her head. These “pods” have grown slowly over the past three years.
Doctors are “fascinated by this strange disease,” according to the New Indian newspaper, adding, “Even my family is very disturbed by my condition.”
According to family members, “something like a horn has come out of Corie’s head for the past three years, causing her unbearable pain.” Relatives explained that the user, who was already accompanied by several doctors, “suffers from a disease beyond the comprehension of the doctors here.”
On a few terms, the family said, doctors advised her to visit the best specialists in town, but because of the costs, “it’s not possible.”
Abhishek Jain, one of the doctors accompanying Cory, believed that the woman’s illness is known as the “silent century”. He explained that it can start anywhere in the body and can be treated and cured through surgery.
Corey, who has experienced increasingly severe pain during these three years, still laments the lack of understanding by health professionals. “For the past three years, I was really upset because I begged everyone but nobody listens to me,” she said.
“I am in pain and I ask God to save me from this disease and also from this suffering,” the user implored.
Cory cannot be treated in county hospitals and small hospitals, so she is awaiting treatment in major hospitals across the country.
