“Hey “The Kherson Regional Defense Council decided on the forced removal of families with children from locations exposed to constant enemy fire,” the region’s governor, Oleksandr Prokudin, said on the Telegram app.
In the region, Russian forces control areas south of the Dnieper River, after withdrawing last year from the city of Kherson, the capital of the region, but they have been subjected to bombing since then.
In August, the Ukrainian authorities actually recommended the evacuation of about ten sites in the Kharkiv region, in the northeast of the country, in the face of an attack by Russian forces, but without commitment.
Prokudin also noted that regional authorities are preparing for “emergencies” in the coming fall and winter regarding electricity supply.
Russia carried out large-scale bombing campaigns against Ukrainian infrastructure in the winter of 2022, causing regular power outages.
