The partnership with Amaury Group begins in 2024
UEFA will join France Football in awarding the annual Ballon d’Or from 2024. The agreement with the Amaury Group, owner of French magazine and newspaper L’Equipe, was made official on Friday. As revealed by both parties, the Amore Group retains the rights to the Cup and will continue to organize and supervise the voting system. UEFA, in turn, brings its football experience by marketing global rights and organizing the annual ceremony. Two awards will be added to the current program, Coach and Coach of the Year. Furthermore, the awards for Best Player, Best Player, Best Under-21 Footballer, Best Goalkeeper, Best Top Scorer from the previous season, Best Club (male and female) and the Socrates Award, which highlights humanitarian work, remain.
The Ballon d’Or is a prestigious award given to the best footballer of the year and has been awarded since 1956. Cristiano Ronaldo has won it five times, and Lionel Messi, the record holder, has won it on 8 occasions, including this year. .
