Four Polish under-17 internationals have been left out of the squad preparing to compete at the World Cup in Indonesia, after they were found drunk during training camp.
The Polish Federation announced the expulsion of the four young men, but only talked about “unsportsmanlike behavior” and “violation of disciplinary regulations,” but the Polish press says that the young men were drunk during the training camp. A version supported by posting messages from the mentioned players on social media.
“Due to unsporting behavior and violation of the regulations, the technical committee of the U-17 team decided to exclude four players from the group,” the statement issued by the Polish Federation read, then added the names of the four violators: Oskar Tomczyk. Filip Rozja, Jan Lapidzki, and Filip Wolski.
Two of the players, Tomczyk and Wolski, play for Lech Poznań and have already declared their discontent with the behavior of young players trained at the club.
“In Lech Poznań, there is absolutely no approval for any behavior that is not appropriate for a representative of the country and a Kolyurs player. These are not our club values. In our academy, which is ideal in this part of Europe, we try to produce not only great players who will later debut in the Polish first team, but also good people. Therefore, we strongly condemn the unsportsmanlike conduct committed by two of our players. “We are waiting for these players to return to Poland, but today we will announce that we will take appropriate consequences against them.”
