A pair of twins were born in the US from frozen embryos more than 30 years ago – Lydia and Timothy Ridgway were born last October 31 but have been ‘stuffed’ since April 22, 1992, around the time George W. Bush. US President and John Major, UK Prime Minister.
The newborn twins, who are more than 30 years old, produce one of the longest frozen embryos to ever result in a live birth, according to the National Embryo Donation Center — the embryos were initially created by an anonymous couple, aged 34 while the father was 2. Age 50, and was kept in a fertility lab before being donated to the National Center in 2007.
Philip Ridgway, the twins’ father, was 5 years old when the embryos were created. “There is something incomprehensible about it. I was five years old when God gave life to Lydia and Timothy, and he has preserved that life ever since,” the parent explained. “In a way, they are our oldest children, even though they are our youngest.” Philip and Rachel Ridgway have four other children, ages 2 to 8.
NEDC’s Mark Mellinger revealed – Molly Gibson was born in 2020 from a 27-year-old embryo, surpassing the record of her sister Ema, who arose from a 24-year-frozen embryo.
