uA 28-year-old American tourist destroyed the staircase of Piazza di Spagna in Rome, the Italian capital, using… an electric scooter. Both the woman and her boyfriend were fined 400 euros and banned from returning to the site. The case took place on the night between June 2 and 3, he says La Republica.
In the images captured by the video surveillance cameras, it is possible to see the young woman – accompanied by her 29-year-old partner – pulling their cars down the stairs (centigrade).
In the middle of the marble staircase of the XVIII century, the woman left her motorcycle, which the monument “thrown”. On the other hand, the man grabs the car by the steering wheel and pushes it.
They caused damages in the amount of 25 thousand euros, and the woman, due to her inappropriate behavior, watched the Italian justice open a criminal case against her.
The monumental staircase, inaugurated by Pope Benedict XIII in 1725, connects the Piazza di Spagna to the Chapel of the Trinita dei Monti and is one of the most famous places in Rome. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and in 2018, it is now forbidden to sit on the site.
