Today, the song that will represent Portugal in the 68th Eurovision Song Contest, scheduled for next May in Sweden, was chosen from among 12 songs competing in the final of the song contest, which this year celebrates its 60th anniversary.
The concert, which will be presented by Filomena Cutila and Vasco Palmerem, will, as in previous years, be broadcast live on RTP1, from the public station's studios in Lisbon.
The 12 competing songs are, in order of presentation: “Change” by Silke Nobre, “Creatura” by Rita Onofre, “Memory” by Noble, “O Farol” by Buba Espinho, “Conspiracy Theories” by Nina, “Gritto”, by Yolanda, “Acitar”, by No. Maca (Emmanuel Oliveira and Duarte Carvalho), with Ana María, “Primavera”, by Cristina Clara, “Puntos Finals”, by Rita Rocha, “Duce Misterio”, by Leo Media, “Bem Far Aqui” by Perpetua, “Pelas Costuras” by João Porsche.
Today's competing subjects were selected in the final in two semi-finals, held on February 24 and March 2, also at the RTP Studios in Lisbon.
The winner is chosen through the usual voting system: half the score is awarded by a jury composed of representatives from seven regions of mainland Portugal and the islands, and the other half by public vote.
In the event of a tie, the public's choice will prevail.
Voting has been open since Monday and the phone numbers corresponding to each song are available on the Cancao Festival's social media accounts.
The winner of the song contest will represent Portugal at the 68th Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held in Malmö, Sweden, in May, 50 years after the country's first win with ABBA's song “Waterloo”.
In May of last year, Sweden won the 67th Eurovision Song Contest, which was held in Liverpool, United Kingdom, with the song “Tattoo”, performed by Loren, who had previously won first place in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, with “Euphoria”. “.
This was the seventh time that Sweden had won the Eurovision Song Contest, after victories in 1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012 and 2015.
Portugal came in 23rd place last year with “Mimicat” and “Ai Coração”. He won the competition in 2017 with “Amar pelo Dois”, a song written by Luisa Sobral and performed by Salvador Sobral.
