These are the five household services that Portuguese will hire the most in 2023 – Human Resources

Local services platform YourHero has doubled its incoming job applications for over 90 available categories, to over 60,000, in 2023 compared to 2022.

Taking stock of the main needs that the Portuguese sought to meet last year, here are the top 5 services in demand from YourHero.

1. Cleaning the house
As in 2022, home cleaning will again be the most in-demand category in 2023. However, in the past 12 months, demand for this service has quadrupled on YourHero compared to 2022, with more than 12 thousand orders registered on the platform. . Among them, 83% correspond to frequent cleanings (weekly or bi-monthly plans).

2. Carpentry
Carpentry is one of the fields with the highest demand and the lowest number of professionals in Portugal. In 2023, the number of requests received by the platform doubled, with 60% of them being small repairs and restorations.

3. Serving food
In 2023, with the pandemic fully over and in-person events making a strong return, YourHero saw a huge increase in catering orders. Demand has tripled compared to 2022, with more than half of the orders received being for parties or corporate events.

4. Redesign
In keeping with what has happened in recent years, in which remote work has grown significantly and the need for home comfort has perhaps increased, demand for home remodeling services continues to grow in 2023. Last year, demand for these services more than doubled. As in 2022, total renewals continue to be the most requested, accounting for 68% of applications.

5. Isolation
Perhaps due to the heavy rains that fell at the end of 2022, the Portuguese decided in 2023 to pay more attention to the thermal insulation of their homes. This was another service that contributed to a doubling of demand at YourHero over the past year, with around 70% of orders being for the installation of new insulation and only 30% for replacement/maintenance.

In addition to solving any immediate need, thermal insulation improves the energy efficiency of homes, making them more pleasant and less susceptible to sudden temperature changes.
