Hundreds of Russian aircraft, including those belonging to Russian businessman Roman Abramovich and Boeings of Aeroflot, which recently violated US sanctions against Russia, were placed on the “black list” of the US Department of Commerce on Friday.
Washington has banned aircraft made in the United States or the United States from entering Russia With at least 25% of the cuttings produced in North American soilwithout specific permission, since the West imposed sanctions over the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
However, since March 2, based on publicly available information, the Ministry of Commerce has identified “a number of commercial and private flights from third countries to Russia, all of which are owned or controlled by Russia or by Russian citizens.”
This government body added, in a statement, that these aircraft cannot benefit from refueling, maintenance, or the supply of spare parts or services.
“Where these aircraft are prevented from receiving any service, including from abroad for exampleThe Commerce Department added, “International flights departing from Russia on these aircraft can lead to equipment freezes.
The list includes aircraft from the Russian airline Aeroflot, Air Bridge Cargo, Utair, Nordwind, Azure Air and Aviastar, as well as Abramovich’s Gulfstream G650 private jet, which also holds Portuguese citizenship.
“We are publishing this list to alert the world that we will not allow Russian and Belarusian companies and oligarchs to travel with impunity, in violation of our laws,” Commerce Minister Gina Raimondo said in the statement.
