Venture capital firm Atomico predicts that the amount of venture capital invested in European startups this year will be 52% lower than in other countries by 2021.
Atomico noted that despite a slowdown across Europe, dealroom and crunchbase data on capital invested in the first half of the year showed a sharper year-on-year decline in the UK than in other leading European countries.
Compared to France and Germany, where registrations in the first half of 2022 are 55% and 44% lower respectively, the UK has fallen further: 57%.
