This Wednesday (27), Betim Municipality is implementing another campaign against the Aedes aegypti mosquito – which transmits arboviruses such as dengue, chikungunya and Zika. Teams from the Center for the Control of Zoonoses and Endemic Diseases and the Municipal Urban Cleanup Team will, starting at 8 a.m., cover the blocks in the Paolo Camilo neighborhood, in the PTB area.
The city municipality has been implementing anti-dengue task forces on a weekly basis since January 26, and has already covered neighborhoods in the city's ten districts. The locations that will receive the procedure are determined every week according to the updated indicators highlighted by the heat map of dengue cases in the city.
The procedure is cross-sectoral and includes the Secretariats of Health, the Council of Ministers, the Regional Administration, and the Construction, Works, Services, Projects, Transport and Traffic Company (Ecos). Endemic disease agents eliminate mosquito larval breeding sites and treat them with larvicides, provide information materials and advise residents on precautions to avoid stagnant water. Cleaning teams sterilize areas covered by irregular waste disposal, collect garbage, tires, waste and other waste that is improperly disposed of.
