The Premier League, the league that organizes the top division of the English championship, was elected on Monday as the best brand among British institutions with a global reach, taking first place in the British Icon Index rankings.
This is the third year in a row that the Premier League has received this recognition and topped the British Icon Index, which assesses the positive impact of British brands and organisations.
The British Iconography Index is an analysis of 14 of the UK's most important institutions, industries and brands – including the English monarchy – looking at public perception in 11 different countries.
The consulting firm Yonder Consulting conducted at least a thousand interviews in each country. The English Premier League came in first place in the ranking, followed by Rolls Royce (a luxury car company) and British universities.
According to the survey, 87% of respondents rated the English Premier League as something that generates positive thoughts about the United Kingdom. The English Premier League ranked first in five markets in Africa and Asia.
