The Ministry of Health brings together national and international experts, on Wednesday (17), to hold a symposium entitled “Developments and prospects in the fight against dengue fever”, at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), in Brasilia. During this event, the Minister of Health and Environmental Monitoring, Ethel Maciel, will update the epidemiological scenario of dengue in the country and present the main measures to prevent and control the disease.
Speakers include Obas Director Jarbas Barbosa and North American infectious disease specialist Maria Van Kerkhove, a specialist in emerging infectious diseases and a technical staff at the World Health Organization. The program includes panel discussions and roundtables on assistance challenges, prevention measures and responses to arboviruses.
In this context, important current issues will be discussed, such as emergency responses, surveillance, vector control techniques, assistance, clinical research, laboratory diagnostics, information systems, and others.
With the virtual broadcast, the event also features the participation of many other experts such as the President of the Brazilian Public Health Association (APRASCO), Rosanna Onoco; Vice President of the Brazilian Society of Infectious Diseases (SBI), Alberto Chipapo, and Vice President of the Brazilian Society of Tropical Medicine (SBMT), André Siqueira.
