The Minister of Health, Marta Temido, appeals to the “wisdom and capacity for self-responsibility” for people at this point in the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said on the sidelines of the presentation of the book “Covid-19 in Portugal: A Strategy”, at the Rectory of the University of Minho (UM), in Braga.
And despite the increase in the number of cases, the minister believes that if everyone does their part, from using self-protection measures to attending vaccination, it will be possible to “double” the current “complex moment”.
For this reason, Marta Temedo considered that the deterioration of the proceedings was not justified, but rather an individual responsibility.
“One of the hardest decisions that has been made is closing schools.”
At a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Antonio Costa, who assumed that one of the most difficult decisions to make was closing schools, Marta Temedo confided that for her it was the most complicated matter.
“They were all tough, but this one was really tough,” he admitted.
The fourth dose of the vaccine for those over the age of eighty who live in nursing homes
With regard to the vaccination of people aged 80 years and over who live in homes that will start receiving the second booster dose, the minister explained that the vaccination will take place in homes, health centers and vaccinations.
“Residents of nursing homes will be vaccinated at home, while mobile people over the age of 80 will be vaccinated in health or vaccination centres,” he said.
