On Monday (14), the Ministry of Health opened the reception and evaluation course for professionals in the twenty-eighth session of the More Doctors Program. The event took place in Brasília and involved 1,000 doctors, who will be trained and sent to different municipalities in the country.
During the course, doctors will have classes on general performance in primary health care, characteristics of the Unified Health System (SUS), clinical protocols defined by the Ministry, legislation and medical ethics.
During the opening ceremony of the course, the Minister of Health, Nicia Trindade, indicated that the professionals will work in remote areas of the country and places where it is difficult to find doctors.
“Our main focus is on the quality of access for our residents, especially those in a more vulnerable situation, whether in remote areas, in relation to large centers, or in relation to the outskirts of our cities,” he said.
The minister also said she intends to work with the Ministry of Education for the “fair validation” of diplomas for professionals who graduated abroad.
“This is our commitment. It is respect for your course, which, for various reasons, often because it is difficult to take a medical course in Brazil, take your courses in Bolivia, which is the largest number of those present here,” he added.
In addition to Bolivia, professionals trained in Colombia, Argentina, Cuba and Russia are taking part in the 28th edition.
The More Doctors program was created in 2013 by former President Dilma Rousseff and resumed this year by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. During the government of former President Jair Bolsonaro, the program was replaced by Doctors for Brazil.
