The Little Nightmares franchise is celebrating its sixth anniversary with 12 million units sold worldwide. Bandai Namco announced and reveals the series’ growing popularity.
The series debuted in the gaming world in 2017 with the release of the original game, produced by Bandai Namco Europe and developed by Tarsier Studios. The game follows Six, a young girl who is trying to escape from A Bocarra, a sunken ship filled with hideous inhabitants.
The success of the first game led to the sequel, Little Nightmares II, released in 2021, which tells the story of Mono, a young boy who meets the girl in a yellow raincoat and together they explore Pale City, a place warped by transmissions from the Tower of Verse.
In addition to the console games, the franchise also includes the mobile game Very Little Nightmares, developed by Alike Studio and released in 2019. In this game, players must escape from the mansion and discover more about Six’s past.
Arnaud Miller, CEO of Bandai Namco Europe, celebrated the success of the franchise, noting that “the Little Nightmares franchise has seen great success and growth since the first installment, released six years ago”. Miller added that he’s proud of the work the teams at Bandai Namco Europe SAS have done alongside Tarsier Studios, Engine Software and Supermassive Games to create great games and expand the franchise into other media.
