On Monday (25/12), the Hospital das Clínicas of the USP University Faculty of Medicine (FMUSP) issued a bulletin updating the health condition of triathlete Luisa Baptista, 29 years old, who was run over last Saturday (23/12), while training in the interior of Sao Paulo.
According to the statement issued Monday afternoon, Luisa Baptista is undergoing extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and is being assisted by mechanical ventilation while in the unit's intensive care unit.
The report explained that “his health condition requires continuous monitoring and specialized intensive care.”
Luisa was transferred from Santa Casa de São Carlos, in the interior of São Paulo, to Hospital das Clinicas, in São Paulo. According to the bulletin, the transfer took place without any major problems.
Luisa Baptista was run over while training on the Abel Tirogía municipal road (SCA-329), which connects the municipalities of Agua Vermelha and Santa Eudoxia, in the interior of São Paulo. Luisa was hit by the car and fled without rendering assistance.
