The head of Ukraine’s military intelligence Kirilu Budanov on Friday vowed to the Russians a “real hell” in Ukraine, where the Kremlin’s army, which he called the “medieval”, will face a constant clash between Ukrainian guerrilla fighters.
“The Russian leadership has made a lot of mistakes and we are using those mistakes,” said Ukrainian General Kirillo Budanov. In an interview with the American weekly The Nation.
The Ukrainian army showed that the Russian army, the second army in the world, was just a legend. It is just a concentration of medieval power, and ancient fighting methods.” The 36-year-old general added.
Kirillo Budanov joined the army after the fall of the Soviet Union and was trained in NATO tactics.
“We have many informants inside the Russian army.”
The general was appointed to head the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine by the head of state of the country, Volodymyr Zelensky.
“We have many informants within the Russian army, not only in its ranks, but also in its political circle and in its leadership,” he said in the interview.
One of his priorities in recent months was to organize a force of fighters that would remain behind Russian lines in a state of prolonged occupation to carry out combat operations.
Budanov did not give details of the force, but noted that it was “a large number of people”, and noted the presence of fighters.
Our fighters, soldiers and even our hunters will begin to chase after the aggressor, the Russian troops, with their weapons in the forests. Spring will soon come, our forests will turn green again and a real hell will open before the aggressor,” he said.
Prospects for peace ‘remain vague and unpredictable’
The general noted that despite the fact that the Ukrainian resistance of the Russian army had faced the Russian army for a month, the situation was still “extremely difficult”.
We have large Russian forces on our territory that have surrounded the cities of Ukraine. He stressed that the prospects for peace, despite the negotiations, are still vague and unpredictable.
Kirillo Budanov also despised the Chechen fighters who joined Russian forces on the Ukrainian front, noting that they were easy to track down by listening to their cell phone conversations.
We have a lot of informants in the ranks of Chechnya. He added that once the operation is prepared, we know it thanks to our informants.”
