The family takes in a dog for two nights, and he ends up saving them from a fire
It was Moss who alerted the family to the flames engulfing the neighbour’s boat: “It was out of control.”
On vacation with the kids, Chris Cushna and Sheila Janes always try to think of new ideas to do with them. However, once the trips to the beach, water parks and parks ended, they ran out of new activities. That’s when they decided: “Let’s get a dog.”
Since the family is always traveling, adopting an animal permanently was out of the question. But nothing prevents him from eating one temporarily. Fortunately, the Portsmouth Humane Society, located in New Hampshire (USA), had the perfect program for this.
“Pawsaround PTown” encourages animal lovers to go to a shelter and choose to keep a dog for as long as they want. It could be for just a few hours or a whole month. This, in addition to taking some of the burden off employees, helps them become familiar with other places in the city and improves levels of socialization, facilitating adoption.
Before leaving the house, Sheila (49 years old), her two children, Logan (12 years old) and Anya (10 years old), and her granddaughter Luna (8 years old), browsed the association’s website and immediately chose the dog they would take home with them. The boat they lived in for three months. “We all agreed it would be Moss. He was in the last box and had the most beautiful face ever,” the woman admitted to the Washington Post.
Once they met him, it was love at first sight. They started by taking the Pyrenees dog, who must be about eight years old, to an ice cream shop and then for a walk around town: “We thought this dog was charming.” If we introduce it to other people, it will definitely find a forever home.Chris, 54, remembers.
It was only supposed to be one night, but the family ended up asking to keep Moss for another night. This saved everyone’s lives.
The next morning, Moose woke up terrified and wouldn’t stop barking and jumping until the family got up and noticed the flames engulfing their neighbor’s boat. He started in the nursery, which was 7:30 in the morning, and she didn’t pay him any attention. However, the dog persisted, and they ended up realizing that they had to get off the boat.
After that, it was the children who woke up the rest of the family, who were startled when they noticed the fire that was happening on the boat next door and that was quickly spreading to their boat. “It was out of control. If Moss hadn’t woken us up, we would have woken up to flames falling from the roof.” Description of Sheila.
Although the boat they were living in was reduced to ashes, the family managed to escape without a single scratch or burn. He has Moss to thank a lot: “We’re very proud of him. He’s a wonderful dog.”
Sheila made sure to publicize this amazing rescue with the charity, so that it could reach many more people and Moose could finally be adopted. On the same day of the fire, a couple the family spoke to ended up adopting the dog as they walked through town. But after a few days it was returned. So, the animal lover wanted more than ever to find his forever home.
“This boy deserves a steak. Let’s go get him.”
Ciara Hill saw Moss’ story Facebook For the association and I think he deserves to be rewarded for his brave work. So, in addition to a good barbecue, he found him a home where he could be happy forever.
“He has done a wonderful job and deserves to be retired to our farm. Let’s give him a good life. Our eight dogs are very spoiled,” the animal lover said. “Moose has been with his new family for two weeks now and couldn’t be happier.
“This is like a sanctuary for animals,” he explained, describing the farm filled with cats, chickens, turkeys and turtles. And the dog seems to be loving his new home: “He’s very loving and friendly. He just wants to pat his head.”
Once Sheila heard the news, she was so happy with Moss’ happy ending, she concluded: “He deserves it all.”
