People ages 12 or older who have symptoms can seek out a dengue care center
Starting next Monday (02/26), the Municipal Health Department will take over Dengue Care Centre, which will work from Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 6 pm, at the Basic Health Unit – UBS 05, located at Rua José Lira Filho, 53, Altos da Vila Nova. People aged 12 or over who have symptoms of illness can request the service for tests, medications, nursing and medical care.
The establishment of a dengue care center is another measure taken by the Municipal Health Department with the aim of mitigating the effects of the increase in the number of cases of the disease in the city, as is the case throughout Brazil. Moreover, the City Hall is promoting work on dengue control and continuous monitoring of patients in the ITU, as it is one of the few cities in the region that uses rapid tests, enabling early diagnosis.
According to Municipal Health Secretary Janina Camargo, “With test results available within a few minutes, the patient begins treatment immediately and fieldwork for vector agents is carried out faster.” The Secretary also advises that it is important for people suspected of having dengue or suffering from the disease to follow all medical advice and stay hydrated. “Hydration can be obtained using a homemade serum, which is easy to prepare, just use a liter of filtered or boiled water, a tablespoon of sugar and a teaspoon of salt,” says Janina.
