The Instituto Cândida Vargas (ICV), part of the Hospital Network of the City Council of Joao Pessoa, is carrying out, this month, actions referring to the Maio Furta-cor campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the issue of maternal mental health. On Monday afternoon (29), the patients participated in a conversation episode. Already this Tuesday (30), other users will participate, from 10 am, in the outpatient unit.
“In the UCG unit, we had a conversation about the mental health of the mother with the pregnant women who were there. The mothers who were in the mother’s home for children in ICV also received a psychology team. We encourage psychoeducational measures for the patients being examined and for their companions. The aim of Maio Furta-cor is to educate the community about the importance of maternal mental health,” explained ICV Psychology Sector Coordinator Poliana Dantas.
Mothers help each other, but the team helps everyone, said Vitória Farias, one of the participants in the activity. “I loved the meeting, because there’s a lot of learning there, and I’ve really been through some of the things that people have been talking about. I try to keep calm here, so it was important for me to be involved in that moment, to help us through difficult situations, and help us become stronger.” “, He said.
The campaign adopted by ICV aims to raise awareness of maternal mental health, in addition to promoting awareness-raising actions based on scientific evidence. ICV’s Psychology sector operates 24 hours a day, providing humane care to patients who need and want a conversation with a specialist in the area.
