It's McLaren's lightest and most extreme road car: The Elva Chassis 001 will be available at Sotheby's auction in Monaco: so set the date – May 11, 2024. However, as you can imagine, you will need generous financing to save this exclusive production beast powered by a twin-turbo engine 4.0 liter capacity produces 804 hp.
In 2015, McLaren announced the Ultimate Series – the absolute pinnacle of the British manufacturer's range. And there's no doubt they've delivered on their promise, with elite models like the Speedtail, Senna and Senna GTR. However, experts point out that it is when there is an unmitigated sensory overload of driving that the ultimate achievement of the Ultimate Series – the Elva – is achieved.
The model was McLaren's first open-cab road car and a machine designed to create an unparalleled connection between driver, road and the elements. “Nothing gets you closer to the thrill,” is how McLaren describes the unique experience the Elva provides.
Offering a dramatic look with clear links to some of McLaren's legendary models, the Elva features a low nose and pronounced front arches. The lack of a roof, side windows and windshield exposes the driver to the outside world, making this the lightest car the company has ever made, weighing only 1,269 kg.
McLaren gave the Elva tremendous power, thanks to a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine that generates 804 hp at 7,500 rpm and 800 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. This is transferred to the road via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Look at the numbers: 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and 0 to 200 km/h in 6.8 seconds. The Elva's top speed is an impressive 326 km/h.
Only 149 units were produced, making this model highly desirable – according to McLaren, no two models are exactly alike.
Chassis 001 was ordered by its owner on 30 August 2022 from McLaren Vienna for 1.5 million euros: it will be registered in Germany and will have only one owner. The Elva is available with just 8 kilometers on the odometer.
Now comes the “boring” part: bidding on this model starts at 1 million euros, and is expected to reach more than 1.5 million euros for the lucky owner.
