British Ambassador to Brasilia, Stephanie Al-Khaq, released a photo of King Charles III welcoming President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and First Lady Janja da Silva to a dinner at Buckingham Palace this Friday (5th). Al-Khaq said the greeting was a testament to the King’s affection for Brazil and Brazilians.
Lula and Janja were invited to a dinner at the residence of the British Monarchy along with other foreign delegations. This Saturday (6th), they attend the coronation of Charles III.
“His Majesty welcomed President @LulaOficial and @JanjaLula to Buckingham Palace today. A testament to the King’s immense affection for Brazil and Brazilians,” the ambassador wrote on Twitter.
At the meeting, Sunak announced a donation of around R$ 500 million to the Amazon fund. The meeting between Lula and the Prime Minister lasted about 40 minutes.

Charles III’s coronation takes place amidst royal controversy
The coronation of Charles III and Queen Camilla will take place at Westminster Abbey from 10am on Saturday. The ceremony will be officiated by the Archbishop of the Church of Canterbury, England, Justin Welby.
After the ceremony, at the king’s invitation, Lula will participate in a reserved meeting with other heads of state who will be in London for the festivities.
The federal government sees President Lula’s trip to the United Kingdom as part of Brazil’s resumption of diplomatic ties since his inauguration in January.
Since taking office, Lula has visited Argentina, Uruguay, the United States, China, the United Arab Emirates, Portugal and Spain and met with many world leaders in Brazil and abroad.
