Brazilian Multiple Sclerosis Online Database, Brazilian National Multiple Sclerosis Database (Brando) became part of the European Data System MS Data Alliance Catalog, prepared by the European Multiple Sclerosis Platform (in SP), to improve information on the disease. Created by the Brazilian Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (BCTRIMS), BRANDO is an electronic database for collecting information on patients with multiple sclerosis in Latin America.
With the aim of enabling the identification of clinical, laboratory, imaging and therapeutic aspects, from a large number of samples collected from Brazilian patients, the system was commissioned in 2021 and currently has a registration of more than 2 4,000 cases.
BRANDO works collaboratively among clinicians providing the electronic database with epidemiological and clinical data from patients diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Data such as age, disease history, time of diagnosis and treatment used are collected, allowing for comparative analyzes regarding disease progression in each patient.
Inclusion of the system in the European database, the MS Data Alliance Catalog, will help resolve specific study questions, as well as be a major step toward accelerating research projects and collaborative studies, increasing the potential for significant advances in the search for improvements for patients with multiple sclerosis.
