Sporting defeated Eintracht Frankfurt, Wednesday (3-0), in a match from the first round of the fourth group of the Champions League. An unprecedented result for the Lions who have never won Germany in European competitions.
The Germans started better and could have taken advantage of two mistakes by the Greens and the Whites to take the lead, but condemned a double-breasted response: Mane did not take advantage of a bad pass from Ugarte (2) and saw Spain’s Kamada. The goalkeeper adjusts the hand after a pass fails (16′).
It took until the 35th minute to see Sporting’s first shot, signed by Marcus Edwards. The English striker, along with Borough, got rid of Tota and Gabriel Sue in the area and fired into Trapp’s defense. Until the break, Morita also threatened… Leonen’s goal, with a deviation that almost betrayed Adan (43′).
In the second half, the Lions managed to appear close to the opponent’s area and after a shot from Boru into the side net (57′) and a free kick from Trinkau from above (63) they just got the goal: Moreta delayed a pass and Marcus Edwards scored his first goal in the Champions League Europe (65).
Two minutes later, No. 10 was back in the spotlight, this time introducing the goal to Trinkau, who extended it. Led by the advantage, the lion reached the third goal, in a beautiful move by Boro, who recovered the ball, passed two opponents along the side line and crossed the newly listed goal of Nuno Santos (82).
Thus, Sporting entered the right-footed in this version of the champions, in a match in which Jeremiah Saint Petersburg participated. Khosti had to be replaced at the start of the second half (by Luis Netto), due to physical complaints.
