The average daily rate for a hotel stay in London is 20% higher than last year, while the UK average is up 5%.
ECA International, Employment Conditions Abroad, Published DataBusiness Tourism News Europe“, indicate that the average daily rate in London is 326 euros per night.
According to Alec Smith, director of benefits and daily rates at ECA International, he pointed to high inflation and rising staff costs as the main reasons for the increase in the cost of staying at hotels in the English capital.
Head of the ECA, London stands out for its average daily rate increase of 20%, while other cities in the country show only a 5% increase compared to last year.
London is considered the third most expensive city in Europe for a business trip, with daily costs of €556, 15% higher than last year.
Geneva with an average daily cost of €700 and Zurich with €640 are the two most expensive cities in Europe for business, while London is followed by Paris, Bern, Copenhagen, Reykjavík, Milan, Amsterdam and Rome.
In terms of global rankings, London is in eighth place, while New York is considered the most expensive city for business, with an average daily cost of 774 euros. US cities Washington DC and San Francisco also occupy the top 5 spots.
Edinburgh, Birmingham, Manchester, Belfast and Cardiff are the British cities that follow London in the European and global rankings, with average daily costs of €372, €351, €347, €325 and €309 per day.
