a cable Received another important update. Messenger has gained unprecedented features in the app, including the ability to mark photos and videos as spoilers, send blurred options, improved cache management, the ability to hide a photo from anyone, and more.
The media as a spoiler
The news was numerous, but perhaps the biggest one was sending blurred media by default. When uploading a photo or video that not everyone wants to see, the user can mark it as a “spoiler”, add a “blur” layer over the record and allow only interested group members to check out the content.
The idea follows the same social networking dynamics in sharing violent content, as in Instagram no Twitter. However, the choice of what gets blurred here is up to the user, so there’s more variety – including, serving as a way to enhance movie discussions without spoiling the experience for others.
Caching management
Now, Telegram has broken out the automatic deletion of cached media for each type of chat. In the settings menu, the user will be able to individually select whether application cleaning should be applied automatically in groups, chats, and private channels.
Better editing tools
For images loaded into the app, the drawing tool is more precise, changes its thickness according to the drawing, and can have rounded ends to give it a “finish” without much effort. In Photos, new customization options have also been added, such as new font types, formats, sizes, and the ability to add animated emoji.
Moreover, to improve conversations on Telegram, the app will allow friends to select a private profile picture for another contact. The profile picture is exclusive and not even the concerned contact will know which one was selected.
Groups with hidden members
To enhance privacy, Telegram will allow admins of groups with more than 100 members to hide the list of participants. The idea is to prevent group chats from acting as a route for scammers and other members. Also for these chats, new animations have been implemented.
Profile photos are separate
Still in privacy, Telegram’s update includes the ability to set specific profile pictures for the public and for your contacts. The idea is that trusted people can access a certain photo, while others can identify you, but not in the same way.
Another important addition is the ability to hide the photo for everyone, except for specific contacts.
Gradual update
The Telegram update has been circulating for a few days now, but it may not have reached everyone yet. So check your phone’s app store for any pending app updates.
