From Lloris to Parreiro, the criticism is the same. The waiting time, the lack of a family doctor, and the fear that something more serious will happen if they don't get treatment in time.
Hundreds of users protested this morning in Barreiro and Llores against the current state of the National Health Service, demanding the appointment of more family doctors and an end to restrictions in emergency rooms.
At the same time, for the same reasons, but in different ways, users expressed their dissatisfaction with the current conditions at the Nossa Senhora do Rosario Hospital, in Barreiro, and at Beatriz Angelo, in Llores.
“Relatively recently, I was with my dad here in the emergency department at Beatrice Angelo and we spent 16 hours waiting to see him at 80 and it was very complicated,” one user said.
Cases of influenza, COVID-19 and respiratory infections continue to put pressure on emergency rooms.
This Saturday the urgent user wait time exceeded 10 hours.
But problems are also felt in health specialties and centres. About 100 thousand users do not have a family doctor in Loris.
One user reported: “I haven't had a family doctor for about 10 years. When I worked there were no effects, because I had health insurance. Now I haven't been to a doctor for about two years.”
Another has also been waiting for the exam for four years.
The same problems are affecting thousands of users more than 30 kilometers away in Barreiro.
Hand in hand, in a battle that is not new, but remains unanswered.
Hope is now pinned on the next government.
