Nayyara Maksoud takes over from Surgeon Silas Fernandez, who continues to dedicate himself to the reference unit in Cardiac Surgery.
The Foundation Hospital Francisco Mendes de Curaçao (FHCFM) has a new administration as of Saturday (30/04). Health Care Administration Executive Secretary Nayyara Maqsoud is managing the unit in place of Dr. Silas Fernandez, who has asked to leave the job, and continues to devote herself, with her expertise, to the hospital, a reference in cardiac surgery in the region.
“My priority is to ensure continuity of services in the unit and to save more lives, because we know that the earlier we treat cardiovascular disease, the better for the patient. This was not an easy decision, given the excellence of the work that Secretary Nayara has developed, but it is a necessary measure so that we can reformulate the call flow at Francisca Mendez and improve the quality of service,” says Anwar Samad, Minister of State for Health.
Nayyara Maqsoud, who until then was the secretary responsible for managing public policies targeting health, thanked her for her confidence and the possibility of taking on a new challenge at Francisco Mendes Hospital.
“The post-pandemic period has brought as one of the consequences of the increase in cardiovascular disease, and Francisco Mendes a very complex reference to the Nordic region. We are in the process of implementing the necessary strategies, such as expanding access to the unit, managing the family, and reorganizing the flows,” said Niara.
Silas Fernandez thanked him for the support he received during the time he was in charge of the unit.
“It was a very wonderful, enriching and wonderful experience. Words of thanks, thank you very much for this opportunity. I am available for whatever is necessary,” said the doctor, who continues to work as a surgeon in the unit.
Renovation – In March, SES-AM, in partnership with the Special Project Management Unit (UGPE), announced a portfolio of health works, which includes renovations at the Francisco Mendes Hospital.
The hospital unit must receive structural work and expansion into critical sectors to improve cardiac care in the Amazon region.
