Following a two-year adaptation period for Scotland’s Low Emission Zones (LEZ), we are pleased to inform you that the Scottish LEZ is fully operational from 1 June.
The Scottish LEZ is currently in force in 4 cities. To Know: Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow.
A vehicle can only circulate within the LEZ if it meets current emission standards. The LEZ emission standards are based on the Euro emission standards and are as follows:
– Euro VI for buses and heavy goods vehicles;
– Euro 6 for diesel cars and vans;
– Euro 4 for petrol cars and vans.
Scottish LEZs operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all year round (including all public holidays).
Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras link to local and national vehicle license databases to monitor all vehicles traveling within the LEZ.
Vehicles not registered in the United Kingdom do not need to be registered with the authorities if they are a Euro 6/VI vehicle.
If a vehicle that does not comply with the standards is plying within the LEZ, it will be subject to an administrative offence.
