16 municipalities in the Midwest of Minas State have joined the “Saúde em Rede” project of the Department of Health of the State of Minas Gerais (SES-MG). Cities are subject to training by the School of Public Health of the State of Minas Gerais (ESP-MG).
According to SES-MG, in April training workshops for the first wave of expansion of the Saúde em Red project will be completed. The second wave began in October 2021 and is still ongoing. In the region, 11 cities are in the first wave of training and five are in the second wave of training. See the table below.
The goal is to restructure healthcare networks (RAS), by qualifying the work processes of Primary Care Professionals (APS) and Ambulatory Care Professionals (AAE).
The waves of expansion are aimed at transferring the actions of the program to different parts of the territory of Minas Gerais. See below the waves for each city that are part of the coverage area TV integration.

Since it is a highly complex project, the program is organized into different technical-educational processes, with different actors, with different institutional inputs and different places to develop educational interventions, weaving a real network of training processes.
Thus, educational workshops aimed at professionals in health services are part of the training processes, which consist of five moments:
- Theoretical training in the method of distance education (EAD);
- training of regional analysts;
- teacher training;
- educational workshops in APS and AAE;
- monitoring process.
Regarding the professionals working in this course, they are divided into:
- teachers.
- Regional Analysts
- Primary Analysts and Supporters.
According to the folder, the Supporter associated with the ESP-MG is responsible, along with the Central Analyst – associated with the SES-MG, for supporting and accompanying the Regional Analysts in the training processes and supporting the project teachers.
Saúde em Rede aims to structure care networks by transforming the current hierarchical model, which makes the hospital the center of care, to make way for integrated management, where primary care is the regulator of health care. In addition to rehabilitating care operations in order to promote health care more suitable for the citizen.
To this end, the project proposes implementing Continuing Health Education (EPS) processes to expand the capacities of Primary Health Care (PHC) and Ambulatory Care Specialist (AAE) teams to analyze and reorganize work procedures. Focusing on the users’ needs of the Unified Health System (SUS).
In 2019, a pilot phase of the Saúde em Rede project was implemented, involving 29 municipalities in the overall Jequitinhonha district. For the second wave, the school needed external support accreditation, to do the excursions, given that there were so many municipalities, and so many concurrent schedules.
