Between Tuesday and Thursday this week, the Speaker of Parliament will be in London on an official visit. The invitation came from Lynda Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons.
The visit will begin at 5pm on Tuesday with a meeting with members of the Portuguese Association of Students and Researchers in the United Kingdom (PARSUK) at the Portuguese Ambassador’s official residence in London, a note said. From the Office of the President.
Still there, at 6pm, Santos Silva will attend a reception for the Portuguese community in the United Kingdom.
In turn, Santos Silva will meet the ‘Speaker’ of the House of Commons at the Palace of Westminster, the seat of the British Parliament, from 9:25 am.
He will also meet the Parliamentary Committee on European Affairs and then hold a plenary session at 11:45 am, in the presence of British Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden.
At the Palace of Westminster, the delegation will have meetings with John McFaul, the ‘Speaker’ of the House of Lords, a lunch for the British delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union and a meeting with the United Kingdom-Portugal Parliamentary Friendship Group. At 16:00, statements to the media are expected.
The official visit will conclude on Thursday with a visit to the Embassy of Portugal in London at 9:30 am, which will be the only item on the agenda for the day.
Augusto Santos Silva will be accompanied by representatives Sergio Souza Pinto (PS and President of the Portugal-UK Parliamentary Friendship Group), Joaquim Miranda Sarmento (PSD Parliamentary President), João Diaz (PCP) and Isabel Pires (BE).
