The Escola Superior de Saúde (ESS) of the Polytechnic of Santarem celebrated on Thursday 16 May its 51st anniversary, a date chosen to announce the expansion of its facilities, in a project awarded to Vomera Building Solutions, with the land provided by the municipality of Santarem, already in 1996, now with final transfer.
At the memorial ceremony, the school’s director, Helia Dias, thanked the entire community and all those who collaborated in the life of the school, highlighting the Santarém City Council, which recently awarded the school the city’s gold medal, in recognition of its efforts. Advanced work in training generations at various levels of higher education, and contributing to the development of health research in Portugal.
The mayor, Ricardo Gonçalves, congratulated the school, the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém and the entire academic community for the way they have undertaken over 51 years “this journey and this investment in developing essential tools, in “training people in the field of health determinants of the present time”.
The mayor also said that it is a pleasure to work with people and institutions like this, who are doing their best to raise the standards of excellent teaching, in serving the community and who are a national and international reference for everything they have done throughout this time. Medium.
The President of the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém, João Motão, noted that ESS has emerged as a school committed to the high-level qualification of citizens, in the field of health, within an international frame of reference. He also took the opportunity to thank the Chamber of Santarém for its work and commitment in solving pressing issues, such as the construction of a new student residence, which will finally be installed in the Knights’ Training School.
