Earlier today we announced the possibility of Samsung bringing Galaxy AI to some of its older flagship phones. Now, we have more concrete data on this and when it should happen.
One UI 6.1 will arrive on the Galaxy S22 in May
According to someone on the Samsung community forums in South Korea, an update will be released in May that will bring One UI 6.1 to the Samsung Galaxy S22. Given the origin of this information, we have good reason to believe it is true.
The admin in question said that this update will be available in early May. The included devices will be the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Tab S8.
This set of equipment will be equipped with the “Galaxy S23 FE AI level”. In other words, they will have the same set of AI features, which means they will be very similar to what Samsung is offering in the Galaxy S24.
The top of the range launched by the South Korean company in 2021 will also be equipped with the sought-after Galaxy AI device. In other words, the Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will also be updated to One UI 6.1.
In the case of these smartphones, the moderator states that the update should be available at the end of May. Unfortunately, these models will receive only two AI options: a search circuit and a keyboard typing assistant.
Despite the limited number of AI features coming to these models, it is commendable to see the brand's efforts to bring existing technologies to its less recent models. It is a reflection of the company's commitment to its wide range of users.
Given this news, we can say that Samsung has overcome the hardware annoyances that were initially mentioned for not launching One UI 6.1 for these models. Justifications that were not very well received, especially among Galaxy S22 users.
However, it is important to stress that the moderator never mentioned whether this calendar is for South Korea or global markets. However, we'll have to wait for more news to see if these dates come to fruition.
