Samsung will fix the bottleneck in a future update
yesterday reveal here who – which Samsung He was accused of limiting the performance of his smartphones galaxy in different applications. The South Korean company is now revealing that it is preparing a software update that will fix what they call “voluntary strangulation”.
In a press release, Samsung spokeswoman Kelly Yu revealed that:
“We appreciate the feedback we’ve received about our products, and after careful consideration, we plan to release a software update soon so that users can check performance while running gaming apps.”
GOS is a pre-installed service on new Samsung smartphones of the Galaxy S22 series (but also on other smartphones of the manufacturer); Officially, its goal is to improve CPU and GPU performance to prevent overheating during the most demanding gaming sessions.
However, its services do not seem to be limited to gaming: in fact, there are almost 10,000 applications in which Samsung’s GOS (Game Optimization Service) is running, which limits performance, and these include, for example, social networks such as Instagram and Tech Tok.
A spokesperson for the South Korean company also spoke about GOS, without commenting on the exemption granted for standard apps, and denying limitations in apps other than games:
“Our priority is to provide the best mobile experience to consumers. Game Optimization Service (GOS) is designed to help games achieve optimal performance by effectively managing device temperature. GOS does not manage the performance of non-gaming applications.”
