Actor Ryan Reynolds rode the bus that transported the men’s and women’s teams of Wrexham AFC during celebrations of the club’s epic season in 2023. Owned by Reynolds and fellow actor Rob McElhinney since 2020, Wrexham was founded in 1864, as the oldest football club in Wales .
In 2023, the Wrexham men’s team are promoted to the fourth tier of English football – teams from Wales compete in the same domestic leagues as English teams. On the other hand, the women’s national team has risen to the top of the Welsh Football League.

“So proud to call him friend — and foe,” actor Hugh Jackman joked in the comments section of Reynolds’ post. “There is no such thing as a Wrexham fan,” another wrote. “Thank you Ryan for all you’ve done for our city and our team,” said a Wrexham resident.
