“aWe have crossed the border,” the Russian Freedom Corps unit announced on social media, posting a video showing three armored vehicles driving down a country road in the dark.
The unit claimed that it destroyed a Russian armored vehicle in the village of Tyutkino in the Kursk region in eastern Ukraine, according to what was reported by the French Agence France-Presse.
The Russian governor of the region confirmed that an attack had occurred, and reported that one person was slightly injured, but denied that the attackers had “crossed the border.”
The Russian army claimed that it repelled several attacks from Ukraine during the night and morning and that it prevented any advance into Russian territory.
The Ministry of Defense said that the armed forces “thwarted an attempt by the Kiev regime to invade Russian territory in the Belgorod and Kursk regions.”
