PlayStation is preparing a new portable device, which is not exactly the successor to the PS Vita, but a new device that will need the PlayStation 5 to function.
According to Insider-Gaming, the recent speculation surrounding the new PlayStation Portable is correct, but only in part, as the new device will not be a standalone device, but a complement to the PS5.
PlayStation Q Lite is a portable device designed to encourage the use of Remote Play for those who need to provide TV for the family, but still want to continue playing on their PS5.
Designed for 1080p and 60fps gaming via Remote Play, the Q Lite will require a stable Internet connection and Insider-Gaming points out That the prototypes suggest a device similar to the Dualsense controller, but with an 8-inch LCD screen, which you can control with touch.
Adaptive triggers with different levels of pressure, haptic feedback, and many more features expected of a handheld device are currently being highlighted, but the plan is to launch the Q Lite before the PS5 Pro.
With the PS5 Pro due for Christmas 2024, Insider-Gaming says, the Q Lite will hit stores before then, but on a date yet to be confirmed.
Another credible and well-known unofficial source, Jeff Grubb, says it’s not to think of a PS Vita 2, but a cloud-focused portable device, something Insider-Gaming says isn’t exactly its main goal, but remote play.
I’m traveling to Super Nintendo World, but I’ve been seeing reports about a possible Vita 2, and I’m definitely going to set those expectations. I’ve only heard of a handheld device that runs through the cloud.
