Exactly two months ago, through a video on social media, Kate Middleton revealed her battle with cancer. Stepping away from public life and work, the Princess of Wales is not expected to return to active duty anytime soon, according to the latest update on her health.
“The Princess is not expected to return to work until approved by her medical team,” a Kensington Palace spokesman told the BBC, clarifying that “childhood will continue to be a focus of her public work.”
The note coincides with the release of a report by the Royal Foundation’s Center for Early Childhood, backed by Kate Middleton, which calls for more investment by companies in the first years of children’s lives.
The project’s managing director, Christian Guy, was quoted by the BBC as saying the Princess of Wales Foundation was “enthusiastic” about the campaign and that the work, though out of the public eye, was being informed.
“Businesses can play a big role now in supporting their current workforce, but there is a long-term opportunity to invest in childhood and take a deeper prevention approach to protect and strengthen future generations,” William and Kate wrote on social media, showing that they are following all developments.
Kate Middleton, when announcing her illness, did not reveal what type of cancer she was battling, but said she was undergoing chemotherapy. The tumor was discovered during an abdominal operation performed by the Princess of Wales.
“In January I had major abdominal surgery in London and at that time my condition was considered non-cancerous. However, the team advised that I should undergo preventive chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment,” Prince William’s wife explained in March.
