Rolls-Royce car brand plans to cut thousands of jobs after hiring consultants McKinsey as part of a rescue plan, The Times reported on Monday.
The cut plan includes merging non-manufacturing departments in each of the company’s civil space, defense and energy systems divisions, the British newspaper says, citing an unnamed consulting source – as a result, 10% of about 30,000 jobs in these sectors could be eliminated.
The company’s headquarters in Derby, UK, will be hit hard by the cuts. According to Rolls-Royce, no decision has yet been made regarding its workforce.
“We are working at a rapid pace on our transformation across multiple workflows, and only one part of those workflows is achieving organizational efficiencies,” according to a spokesperson for the automotive brand. “We have not made any decisions regarding the potential impact on staff, and any advice on the contrary is pure speculation.”
