oh The video, posted on social media on the afternoon of December 31, contradicts the official New Year’s message released on Saturday, in which the conservative leader warned of problems facing the country that will not go away in 2023.
“I want citizens to have hope. I know it’s been tough, but I truly believe that better times will come,” Rishi Sunak said in his second New Year’s message.
Despite being head of government for just over two months, the British prime minister insisted he was optimistic about the change he could bring to “improve people’s lives”.
The year 2022 in the United Kingdom was marked by many changes in national politics, with the country knowing three different Prime Ministers (Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and Sunak).
The country faces a difficult financial situation, with skyrocketing debt, a devaluation of the pound and fears of a recession, while Brexit is not fully resolved, continuing to create uncertainty over issues such as the Northern Ireland protocol.
In addition, the Conservatives, in power for 12 years, have faced protests and several strikes in recent months demanding higher wages.
